Alfred Seaman and the PCUK

The Photographic Convention of the United Kingdom through the stereoscopic camera of a Derbyshire photographer

Alfred Seaman
stereoscopic photographer
and the
Photographic Convention of the United Kingdom

This site documents the meetings of the PCUK from its founding in 1886 until 1910. It is illustrated with the stereoscopic photography of Alfred Seaman, a remarkable Derbyshire based photographer who was a founding member. Each of the conventions is described by a contemporary report, taken from the photographic journals of the day. As such it provides an account of the conventioners 'in their own words'. The photo gallery shows some of the 2000 stereoviews taken by Alfred Seaman - many of them on his annual visit to the convention.
